Following their triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 win against South Africa, Team India, along with their families, coaching staff, support personnel, and BCCI officials, encountered a slight delay in their return home. Hurricane Beryl forced them to stay in Barbados for four extra days. Thankfully, the BCCI secured a special Air India flight to whisk them away on Wednesday. In a heartwarming gesture, the Board also ensured seats for Indian media members stranded on the island. Reunited with the trophy, the Rohit Sharma-led team first met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on July 4th. Now, they're en route to Mumbai for a victory parade, scheduled for 5:00 PM, where they'll celebrate their championship with cheering fans.
Mumbai is gearing up for a massive celebration. Team India's T20 World Cup victory will be feted with a victory parade and a special felicitation ceremony organized by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium. Cricket fans can join the festivities as entry to the stadium is free, although seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates open at 4:00 PM. Be advised that if you're planning to attend the celebrations in person, traffic disruptions are expected in South Mumbai. The traffic police has restricted traffic on seven roads and parking will be prohibited on ten others.
