India's star all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer faced a difficult question when asked to choose between Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. His response to this tough query has quickly gained popularity on social media. Iyer, who is currently playing for Lancashire in England, rose to prominence during the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). His impressive performances earned him a spot on the Indian national cricket team for white-ball formats. Iyer is also a valuable asset to the team with his medium-pace bowling skills.
The 29-year-old cricketer has represented the Indian team in two One Day Internationals (ODIs) and nine Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In ODIs, Iyer scored 24 runs in two matches, averaging 12.0. In T20Is, he contributed 35 runs in 9 games, averaging 33.25 with a strike rate of 162.2. He also claimed five wickets in the shorter format of the game.
Venkatesh Iyer rates MS Dhoni higher than Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar
Meanwhile, Lancashire's County team shared a lighthearted video on X featuring Venkatesh Iyer in a 'This or That' segment. Iyer, nearing the end of his stint with Lancashire in England, was presented with a series of choices between international cricketers. The Indian cricketer frequently selected his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate, Phil Salt, in most of the combinations offered. Iyer's choices included preferring Salt over international stars like Chris Gayle. As the video progressed, players not chosen were gradually eliminated.
When faced with the decision between MS Dhoni and Brendon McCullum, Iyer confidently chose Dhoni. He also preferred Dhoni over Virat Kohli. However, when asked to choose between Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, Iyer paused briefly, smiled, and ultimately selected Dhoni once again.

After his stint with Lancashire, Iyer will return to India. He missed the Duleep Trophy due to his commitments with the English county team.
Talking about Iyer's impressive batting performance in the IPL 2024 seasos, he scored 370 runs for KKR, averaging 46.25 with a strike rate of 158.79. His contributions included four half-centuries.
