Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir buried the hatchet in the previous game.

Virat Kohli has the Orange Cap with 361 runs from seven games.

The bigwigs of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, engaged in a lengthy animated conversation at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on the eve of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) must-win clash. A few weeks ago, Kohli and Gambhir buried the hatchet as the latter hugged the RCB batter during the strategic timeout. Many expected that tempers will flare at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, especially after the altercation between the two in the last season. However, the former teammates put an end to all speculations.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a video of the two during the practice session with caption: “Jhappi laga liya. Masala khatam”.

"Log bohot disappointed hog aye hain mere behavior se. Naveen ke saath maine jhappi daal li, us din Gauti bhai ne aake mereko jhappi daal di. Matlab, tumhara masala khatam ho gaya to boohoo kar rahe ho. Abey bache thodi na hain yaar (People are very disappointed with my behavior. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir] hugged me. Now that they don't have anything juicy, they've started booing. We are not kids!)," Kohli had said at an event earlier this month.

KKR and RCB’s position on points table

It is a must-win clash for the bottom-placed RCB if they want to revive their season. The Faf du Plessis-led side has registered just one win from seven games and their net run rate (NRR) is second-worst among all teams. Conversely, KKR have been in fine form with four wins from six games. They are placed second on the points table below Rajasthan Royals (RR) and their NRR is second to none.

What happened in previous RCB vs KKR clash?

The last time KKR and RCB went up against each other, Shreyas Iyer-led side won by seven wickets. Kohli remained unbeaten on 83 off 59 balls to help the hosts post 182/6 but the target was chased down by KKR with seven wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare.

Kohli’s IPL numbers

Kohli is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament. He has 361 runs from seven innings at an average of 72.20 including one century and two half-centuries.
