Former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu opined that India will open their batting with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign opener where Men in Blue will face Ireland on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Kohli has played 16 international matches as an opener scoring 566 runs with a strike rate of 112.52 and an average of 40.52.
Siddhu reckoned that team India would go with the same playing XI featured in the warm-up match against Bangladesh. However, Kohli missed that clash and Sanju Samson opened India's innings with captain Rohit.

“The way the wind blows the tin, the way the practice game was, it clearly showed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will open, Suryakumar Yadav will come, then Rishabh Pant will come, Hardik Pandya will come, then Ravindra Jadeja will come, and then Shivam Dube,” said Navjot Siddhu on Star Sports.
Coming back to the warm-up match, team India won the clash against Bangladesh by 60 runs where Rishabh Pant was the top run-scorer (53) which helped the team post 182 runs on the board. Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube were the pick of the bowlers. Both bowlers got two scalps each.
