Watch: Umran Malik scares opposition with after bagging maiden ODI wicket 150+ kmph belter
Indian pace ace Umran Malik has taken the cricketing world up by storm as it did not take him long to grab his maiden ODI wicket which heralds the entrance of the young speed gun in the Indian team. The J&K pacer soon found himself punching the air with his trademark celebration as he dismissed Kiwi opener, Devon Conway, for 24 off 42 balls.
The decoy was set up by Umran against a struggling Conway and he took the bait perfectly as he went for an extravagant drive which brought the demise of his innings. Umran strutted his Dale Steyn-inspired celebration as his teammates rushed to congratulate him.
New Zealand are chasing a formidable total posted by India of 307 in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series. Umran as he is renowned for his pacey deliveries has been living up to his billing in his debut ODI. The speedometer which was off for his maiden wicket otherwise has been showing speed when he revved up the meter to 153.1 kph which is the fastest by any bowler so far in this ODI.
Umran did not scrimp on his pace at all even if he went for runs as one of the criticisms of his bowling has been that he bowls with no control. He has doubled the wickets tally on his debut as he two overs later sent Daryl Mitchel packing for 11 off 16. In his spell of 10 overs, he has had a memorable start to his ODI career where he scalped two wickets, conceding 66 runs with an economy rate of 6.6.
