Suryakumar Yadav's India swept T20I series over Sri Lanka after Super Over thriller in third match.

New T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has revealed a change in dynamics within the Indian dressing room after Men in Blue swept T20I series over Sri Lanka. Following the conclusion of the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav stated that the team has adopted a more united approach, opting to spend time together as a group rather than in smaller cliques. India made significant changes to their playing XI for the final T20I, which took place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Despite a top-order collapse that saw them reduced to 48/5, the team managed to post a total of 137 runs in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka appeared to be in control of the chase at one point. However, a familiar batting collapse, reminiscent of their previous two matches, ensued. The hosts lost their final seven wickets for a mere 22 runs, resulting in a Super Over to decide the match. India emerged victorious in the Super Over.

Suryakumar Yadav emphasised the importance of team unity

Suryakumar Yadav emphasised the importance of team unity in a post-match interview. He explained that the Indian team has implemented a policy of sitting together as a group, sharing both triumphs and setbacks, as opposed to forming smaller cliques. This approach, adopted during the T20 World Cup, aims to foster stronger team bonds.

"Trend started from T20I World Cup that we have decided that we will not sit in small groups like 2-3 players, we will sit together in every moment whether the situation is good or bad & this helped us a lot in terms of our bonding in the team," Suryakumar told Sony Sports Network.

Suryakumar Yadav was entrusted with the responsibility of bowling the final over, taking precedence over Mohammed Siraj. In a remarkable T20I debut with the ball, he claimed two wickets while conceding only five runs, ensuring Sri Lanka tied the match. India secured victory in the Super Over, with captain Rohit Sharma hitting a boundary on the first ball when three runs were required.

Suryakumar Yadav will be absent from the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The series will mark the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the Indian ODI squad. The first match of the series is scheduled for Friday, August 2nd, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
