Team India opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up his maiden Test double century on Day 2 of the second match against England. The 22-year-old Jasiwal became the 3rd youngest Indian batter to score a Test double century. The stylish left-handed batter brought up his double century in style and took just two deliveries to go from 191 to 201 as he whacked a six and a four to achieve the feat.
Throughout his knock in Visakhapatnam, Jaiswal displayed immense composure as wickets kept tumbling at the other end. The young batter showed a mature head on his shoulders and counter-attacked whenever the Three Lions' bowlers seemed to have their tails up.
Jaiswal also proved that he had ice running through his veins and his approach remained the same even when he was nearing milestones during different phases of his innings. He completed his half-century with a boundary and reached his century by whacking a gigantic six. He completed his 150 with a boundary and kept the trend going by sweeping Bashir's delivery for a boundary to reach his maiden Test double century.
It took England 107 overs to finally send Jasiwal back to the pavilion. The left-handed batter tried to whack James Anderson's delivery for a six but failed to make a decent connection on his attempt. The ball went high up in the sky and Jonny Bairstow, who was guarding the deep cover fence, had enough time to settle himself and complete an easy catch.
Nevertheless, Jaiswal's knock was nothing short of spectacular until it lasted. In his entertaining knock, the 22-year-old southpaw scored 209 runs off 290 balls with the help of 19 fours and seven sixes. He batted with a strike rate of over 72 and throughout his stay at the crease, he gave the England skipper Ben Stokes plenty to think about.
