The shorter the format, the higher the unpredictability. In the contest between Northern Warriors and Chennai Braves in ongoing T10 League 2021-22, Warriors' pacer Oshane Thomas bagged the first hat-trick of the season by dismissing Mark Deyal (1), Tion Webster and Curtis Campher in a high-scoring affair. After leading 21 runs from first nine deliveries, Thomas took the hat-trick to finish his spell in the seventh over. Both Deyal and Campher got out bowled by Thomas whereas Webster got caught trying to play a big shot.
In a format dominated by batters, the Caribbean speedster derailed Braves run chase of a mammoth target (153). Braves were on the track in the run chase as at one stage they were 85-4 in 6.3 overs but the spell from Thomas broke the backbone of Braves’ middle-order.
Earlier, batting first Warriors had posted 152 runs on the board with the loss of four wickets. Openers Kennar Lewis and Moeen Ali were unstoppable as the duo posted 106 runs in just 6.1 overs. After the departure of the openers, skipper Rovman Powell (28 off 12) and Samit Patel (17 off 9) built on a good platform and helped their side cross the 150-run mark.
Both the sides were in search of their first win of the season but Warriors managed to register their first with all-round display while Braves still await for their maiden win of the season. Lewis dazzling knock of 49 overshadowed Caribbean pacer's hat-trick as the attacking batter was adjudged ‘Player of the Match'.
