ACC Men's Emerging Cup: Sri Lankan bowlers rattle Oman, decimate them for 42 runs in complete demolition

The 10th match of the ACC Men's Emerging Cup between Sri Lanka A and Oman A ended in embarrassment for the middle eastern team.

Sri Lanka A were put into bat first and scored 259 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. But in response to this, the entire Oman side were dismissed for 42 runs. The Oman batter were completely demolished by the Sri Lankan bowlers. Nine of the 11 Oman batters scored a combined 13 runs.

The one batter who scored the most runs from Oman was Kashyap Prajapati. The batter only scored 18 runs as Suraj Kumar managed only 10 runs. Apart from this, no other batter could settle into the crease.

5 wickets fell for 20 runs

There was a time when half the team returned to the pavilion with the total score reading 20 runs. Five more wickets fell in 22 balls. The whole team collapsed for 42 runs in 17.1 overs. Chamika Karunaratne took the most wickets from Sri Lanka -- He took three wickets for 3 runs in 2 overs. While Dunith Wellalage took 2 wickets, Pramod Madhushan 2, Lahiru Samarakoon bagged 2 and Sahan Arachchigetook 1 wicket.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan batters played their full quota of 50 overs. Avishka Fernando and Lasith Croospulle, who came opened the batting for Sri Lanka A, batted well and shared a 55-run partnership for the first wicket. But after this, Avishka got out after scoring 25 runs.

Keeper Minod Bhanuka, however, walked out cheaply after scoring 9 runs. A good partnership was built between Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sahan Arachchige. Pasindu scored 60 and Sahan scored 48 runs. Towards the end, Dunith and Chamika also played innings of 21 and 20 runs respectively to reach a team's total of 259 runs.

Talking about the points table, Sri Lanka A are on top of Group A. While India A are on top of Group B. The biggest match of this tournament is between India A and Pakistan A and will be played on July 19.
