India captain Rohit Sharma scripted history after cracking stunning century in the third T20I against Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday, January 17. Riding on his jaw-dropping 121-run knock, Rohit became the batter with most T20I centuries. It was Rohit's fifth century in the shortest format of the game as he left behind Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell, who have clocked four T20I ton against their names. The Hitman took just 64 balls to bring his century and 41 balls to notch his fifty. It was Rohit's knock which powered India to a big total of 212/4.

Players with most T20I centuries:

1) Rohit Sharma (India) - 5

2) Suryakumar Yadav (India) - 4

3) Glenn Maxwell (Australia) - 4

Rohit, who had a rough start in the series with consecutive ducks in the first two matches, made a remarkable comeback by scoring a century in just 64 balls. His innings included a flurry of 11 fours and 8 sixes. His previous century in this format was against the West Indies in 2018, where he notched an unbeaten 111 at Lucknow. On Wednesday, he outdid that performance by scoring an unbeaten 121 runs in Bengaluru, pairing up with the dynamic Rinku Singh, who scored 69, to overwhelm the Afghanistan bowling attack. The intensity of their partnership was particularly evident in the final 5 overs, which yielded a staggering 103 runs. Both Rohit and Rinku unleashed a barrage on the Afghanistan bowlers, with the last over alone contributing 36 runs, including 5 sixes and a four.

In a stunning display of batting, Rohit and Rinku Singh amassed an impressive 103 runs in the last five overs, completely overpowering the Afghanistan bowling line-up. The highlight was the final over, where they scored 36 runs, including 5 sixes and a single four.

The Indian innings had a shaky start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring just 4 runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck, Shivam Dube managed only 1 run, and Sanju Samson also went out for a duck, leading to concerns about a potential Indian collapse.

Earlier in the match, Sharma, as the captain, chose to bat first in the third and final T20 International against Afghanistan on Wednesday. The Indian team saw some changes with Sanju Samson, Avesh Khan, and Kuldeep Yadav replacing Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Jitesh Sharma in the playing XI.
