Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne scripted history during the second Ashes Test against England in Brisbane. He became the first ever player in history to score over 1000 runs in pink-ball Tests and did so with a gritty knock of 65 on Day 2. The 31-year-old has so far played 16 innings in the format and has four centuries and five fifties under his name when it comes to day-night Tests.
In ffact, the Aussies totally dominate the the list with four players out of the top 5 being from their team. After Labuschagne, Steve Smith sits on the second spot with David Warner and Travis Head occupying the third and fourth place respectively. Smith will also have a chance to reach the milestone as the second Ashes Test progresses. The list just shows how dominant Australia has been when it comes to pink-ball Tests. They are yet to record a loss in the format and it remains to be seen if their arch-rivals England will manage to become the first team to defeat them.
Australia start their innings strong
Meanwhile, after bundling out England for 334 runs early on Day 2, Australia's opening pair of Travis Head and Jake Weatherald provided the team with a strong start. The duo played several fine shots, forming an impressive partnership of 77 runs. Brydon Carse would eventually get the breakkthrough for the visitors as he dismissed Head for 31 runs. However, the wicket didn't stop Weatherald from scoring runs and he then went on to form a big stand with Labuschagne.

Weatherald would go on to score his maiden fifty in Tests later on. His remarkable innings would eventually be brought to an end by for 72 runs Jofra Archer who opened his account for the day. Soon after, Labuschagne brought up his fifty and tried to form a big stand with Smith. However, the former was soon sent back to the pavilion by Ben Stokes as Australia got restricted to 196/3. It is now up to the duo of Smith and Cameron Green to take the Baggy Greens' innings forward.
