Asia Cup 2025: Abhishek Sharma creates history, becomes first Indian to bag this sensational T20I feat

Abhishek Sharma achieved a historic milestone in India's nine-wicket triumph over United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their Asia Cup 2025 campaign opener on September 10

India's first match of the Asia Cup 2025 was a swift and one-sided affair, lasting only 106 deliveries. The bowling duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube were particularly effective, sharing seven wickets to dismiss the UAE for a record-low score of 57 in just 13.1 overs.

India then began their chase aggressively, completing it in a mere 4.3 overs to secure a decisive nine-wicket victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Opener Abhishek Sharma set the tone for the chase, hitting the very first ball for a six with a lofted shot over long-off. In his entertaining 16-ball knock of 30, he went on to hit two more sixes and two fours.

Abhishek's first-ball six made him the fourth Indian player to achieve this feat in a T20I, following Rohit Sharma (vs. England in 2021), Yashasvi Jaiswal (vs. Zimbabwe in 2024), and Sanju Samson (vs. England in 2025). 

However, at 25 years old, he is the first Indian to do so while chasing a target. The left-handed batsman, who made his T20I debut in July 2024, also holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the format, with 135 runs against England earlier this year.
