Bangladesh has announced its 16-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and a home T20I series against the Netherlands. Litton Das will lead the team, which includes the return of two players who were previously out of favor, while former T20I captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has been left out.
Nurul Hasan recalled as Bangladesh reveal Asia Cup squad
The squad sees the return of wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan, who last played a T20I in 2022 during the T20 World Cup in Australia. Nurul's strong domestic performances earned him a recall after a three-year hiatus. Additionally, all-rounder Saif Hasan is back in the T20I squad after a year and a half, having last represented the team at the Asian Games in 2023. The Asia Cup is set to begin on September 9.

One notable exclusion from the main squad is Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who recently took over as the ODI captain. While his absence from the three-match series against the Netherlands was expected, he also lost his spot in the Asia Cup squad after a less-than-impactful return to T20I cricket. Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud have also been named on the standby list.
Before heading to the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will play a three-match T20I series at home against the Netherlands, with games scheduled for August 30, September 1, and September 3. At the Asia Cup, Bangladesh is in Group B along with Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong. Bangladesh will open their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 11 in Abu Dhabi.
