Suryakumar Yadav provided a fitness update ahead of Asia Cup 2025

Suryakumar recently underwent a sports hernia surgery in Germany

India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has shared a fitness update after recently undergoing a successful sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany. There were a lot of doubts over the 34-year-old's participation in Asia Cup 2025 as he had spent the past 5-6 weeks at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru en route to his recovery from the surgery.

In a video posted by BCCI on social media, Suryakumar revealed that he is 'feeling good' and has been following a routine for the past six weeks as well.

"I'm feeling good right now. It's been five to six weeks. A good process, good routines for the last six weeks, and fingers crossed, feeling really well," Suryakumar said in the video.

Suryakumar left for Germany after IPL concluded

The India captain for the shortest format further revealed that the injury had gotten diagnosed by the end of IPL 2025 and he had left for Germany after the season had concluded. He also stated that the injury was similar to the one that he had sustained last year.

"It actually got diagnosed close to the end of IPL. I felt it because I had a similar kind of injury last year as well, and that's how I got to know. So a few checklists were there. I tried those things and then I realised that it's time to go and do a small MRI," Suryakumar stated.

"When I did it, it was very clear in that. I did it after IPL and then went to Germany. It went really well, and I knew how the recovery is going to be step by step. So I was prepared for everything. So we took one week at a time, and we are here, and I'm feeling good," he added.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar will be captaining the Indian team in Asia Cup. This will be his first major international assignment as the Men in Blue's T20I skipper and both him and the team will be aiming to win the continental tournament for a record ninth time in their history.
