The much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan turned out to be a lop-sided affair at the Dubai International cricket stadium on September 15. Unlike recent T20I clashes between the two rivals, which have often been thrillers, this contest lacked any real contest, as India notched up a comfortable seven-wicket win over Pakistan with 25 balls to spare, which also guaranteed them an entry into Super 4.
Suryakumar Yadav's clear-cut take on India vs Pakistan's cricket rivalry
Meanwhile, right after India's emphatic win, Suryakumar was asked to comment on their clash against Pakistan, to which he said:
"For me, for my team, we think it's just another game. We prepare the same for all the oppositions. That's what happened few months back."
"(Crowd chanting happy birthday) Great feeling and a perfect return gift to India. Keeps running in your mind when you think about it. You definitely want to win it and when you win it, you have it ready. One box that I always wanted to tick - stay there and bat till the end. The team that won the CT set the tone. I'm always a fan of spinners because they control the game in the middle. Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the victims of the families of Pahalgam. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces. Hope they continue to inspire us all," he added in the post-match presentation.

Talking about the match, chasing a target of 128, India's batting lineup proved to be too strong for Pakistan, securing a victory with 131/3 in just 15.5 overs. The chase was spearheaded by captain Suryakumar Yadav, who remained unbeaten on 47 from 37 balls. India got off to a blistering start thanks to Abhishek Sharma, who smashed 31 runs off just 13 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 238. Shubman Gill added 10 runs before Tilak Varma contributed 31, falling to Saim Ayub. Shivam Dube (10 not out) partnered with Yadav to finish the chase.
For Pakistan, the only standout bowler was Saim Ayub, who took all three of India's wickets, finishing with 3 for 35. Abrar Ahmed was also economical with 0 for 16, but Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, and Sufiyan Muqeem all failed to take a wicket. Pakistan's total of 127 for 9 was ultimately not enough to challenge the powerful Indian batting.
This dominant win places India in a strong position in the Asia Cup group stage, while Pakistan now faces immense pressure to keep their tournament hopes alive.
India will next face Oman on September 19, while Pakistan will take on UAE on September 17.
