The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi as India celebrated their Asia Cup win without the trophy and medals after defeating Pakistan at the title decider at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
Saikia alleged that Mohsin Naqvi took the trophy with him, along with the medals, after India refused to take the trophy from him because he was one of the main leaders of Pakistan.
"We have decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. So we decided not to take it from him. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him, along with the medals. So it is very unfortunate and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible," said Devajit Saikia.

Will ICC impose sanctions on Mohsin Naqvi?
The BCCI secretary also said that in the upcoming ICC conference, the Indian Cricket Board will launch a very serious and strong protest against Mohsin Naqvi's act after the Asia Cup 2025. Notably, ICC holds the power to impose a fine or a ban on any individual cricket board for their actions.
"There is an ICC conference in November in Dubai. In the next conference, we are going to launch a very serious and very strong protest against the act of the ACC chairperson" added Saikia.
Why does India refuse to take the Asia Cup Trophy from Mohsin Naqvi?
India refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi because the ACC chief is one of the politicians in Pakistan, and India has boycotted all diplomatic ties with the neighbouring nation after the Pahalgham terror attack, which involved Pakistan-funded terrorists. India also told the ACC that they will be happy to receive the trophy from Emirates Board vice chairman Khalid Al Zarooni. However, that request was denied by Mohsin Naqvi, who himself wanted to present the medals to the Indian team.
