Abhishek Sharma's blitzkrieg in the Asia Cup 2025 continued, this time in the India versus Bangladesh's Super Four clash at the Dubai International stadium on September 24.
Abhishek Sharma scripts history, breaks Rohit Sharma's big record
Abhishek didn't get the best of the start as he could only score seven off seven balls. He soon changed his gear and started belting bowlers all around the park. As soon as he cracked the first six, he shattered Rohit Sharma's all-time Asia Cup T20 record of hitting most sixes for India. Abhishek surpassed Rohit Sharma's record of 12 sixes. So far Abhishek has tonked 17 maximums. Abhishek ended up hammering a blistering 37-ball 75 which was studded with five sixes and six fours.

The 25-year-old reached his fourth T20I half-century in just 25 balls, simultaneously breaking another big record, i.e an all-time Asia Cup record (across both ODI and T20I formats). During his destructive 75-run innings off 37 balls, the southpaw smashed five sixes.
He went past Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya's record for the most sixes hit by a batter in a single edition of the Asia Cup. Needing only three sixes to break Jayasuriya's previous benchmark of 14, Abhishek is now comfortably clear of every other batter in the tournament's history.
Most sixes by a batter in one Asia Cup edition (ODI or T20I):
17 - Abhishek Sharma (India) - T20, 2025
14 - Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) - ODI, 2008
13 - Rohit Sharma (India) - ODI, 2018
12 - Shahid Afridi (Pakistan) - ODI, 2010
12 - Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan) - T20, 2022
However, the star southpaw had to return to pavilion in the 12th over after his fiery knock. By Abhishek's dismissal India were placed at 112/3.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Bangladesh's stand-in captain Jaker Ali, after winning the toss, said:
"We would like to bowl first. He (Litton) got injured during a practice session and unfortunately misses out on this crucial game. I am excited and looking forward to this game. We are doing really well as a team and we will try to give our best. We will try to restrict them and chase it down. Surface looks pretty good to bat. We have got four changes."
Meanwhile, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav, after losing the toss, said:
"We are happy doing it. We have got what we wanted in the last 4-5 games and we are happy to bat first. We have to follow the good things that we have been doing and the results will take care of itself. The boys have done their bit, it is part of the game (dropped catches). Much pleasant (weather). Same team."
