Avesh Khan has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 due to illness. In his absence, bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been included in the 15-member squad. Chahar was a part of the extended squad as a standby.
Avesh has been suffering from fever and sinus for a few days. "Avesh Khan is a little unwell and hopefully, we will get him for the later matches of the tournament," head coach Rahul Dravid had said a day before India’s first Super 4 clash against Pakistan on September 4.
Avesh is the second Indian player to get ruled out of Asia Cup 2022. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja had to leave United Arab Emirates (UAE) after he sustained a knee injury. Axar Patel was named as his replacement. On September 6, Jadeja posted on his Instagram account that he has had a successful injury.
