India's young opener Ishan Kishan has recently faced a lot of criticism for his inconsistent performances for the national team. This has also been reflected in the squad for India's Asia Cup campaign, where the star batter was dropped. Kishan has featured regularly for India in limited overs cricket, but in the last 10 innings, has managed only one half-century, against South Africa back in June.
And now, the Mumbai Indians product has responded to his critics with a brilliant story on Instagram, where he shared a photo of himself during a training session with the national team, and a song by Hindi artist Bella, which is named Humble Poet. The lyrics of the song which Ishan shared in his story are, "Don't become such weak that you get hurt. If anyone calls you a fool then you have to become fire. Do not go missing like the rest of the people. Where will you go if you start hating others? Or with all this hate inside you, will you change?
The story, and the 15 seconds of the song chosen by Kishan, can be taken as an indication that the 24-year-old is working hard to not listen to his critics and to entertain any hate that is coming his way. It is also a testament to the fact that Kishan is working towards not being emotionally weak, which might be only of the reasons that the star opener has lost sight of his form with the India side.
Kishan was similarly inconsistent for MI during the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, but he was among the better batters on the side. However, a lack of consistency with the national team has deeply affected his confidence, coupled with the management's decision to try out new openers like Suryakumar Yadav is sure to have affected Kishan's confidence. But the batter is now clearly working on himself and hopes to return to the national team with a bang.
