The high-octane India vs Pakistan's clash in the Asia Cup Super Fours showdown was suspended on Sunday due to persistent rain and was pushed to the reserve day on Monday, September 11. Following this, fans were hopeful that the match would be completed on the reserve day but the heavy rainfall in Colombo from Monday morning yet again reignited fears among the fans that the India-Pakistan match on the reserve day might again be affected or suspended due to incessant rain.
 

However, a big relief has come pertaining to the mother of all clashes as ‘Sports Tak’ in a special report reported that the rain has completely stopped in Colombo around Premadasa stadium and the sun is shining bright. In fact, clouds are getting away gradually which has left the sky all cleared. However in that scenario let's take you through all the details pertaining to the rescheduled match as to when will the match starts and how many overs the contest will be played for.

 

 

How many overs the contest will be played for?

 

In this crucial match, Pakistan won the toss and invited India to bat. Before the game was halted due to rain, Team India had scored 147 runs for the loss of two wickets in 24.1 overs. Now, as per the rules, the full 50-over game will be played on the reserve day. Therefore, India will play the remaining 25.5 overs on Monday.

 

When will the match start?

 

If there is no interruption in the match due to rain, the India-Pakistan match on the reserve day will kick off on its schedule time i.e. at 3 PM IST. However, if the downpour comes to haunt and impeded the game yet again, the cut-off time for a minimum of 20 overs to be played will be around 10:30 PM. This means, even if a revised target is set for 20 overs, the match must start by 10:35 PM at the latest.

 

How the match unfolded on Day 1?

 

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, India got off to a roaring start, with openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill laying a solid foundation with a 121-run partnership in just 16.4 overs. However, after the departure of the skipper Sharma (56 off 49), Gill (58 off 52) soon followed, marking a turning point in the match for Pakistan. At the rain interruption, the game's momentum hung in the balance, with India at 147/2 and batting stalwarts Virat Kohli (8 off 16) and KL Rahul (17 off 28) on the pitch at the end of 24.1 overs.
