Team India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan played an outstanding knock against Pakistan on September 2 (Saturday) and bailed the Men in Blue out of a precarious position. Kishan displayed a great head on his shoulder under extreme pressure and showcased his full repertoire of strokes against Shaheen Afridi-led Pakistan bowling attack. The left-handed batter walked into bat when India were tottering at 48/3 at the 9.5 over mark. From there on, the southpaw played every ball to its merit and scored runs at a rapid pace.

In a game where Pakistan's pacer oozed class and bowled with great venom, Kishan scored 82 runs off 81 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes. Kishan, who usually struggles to rotate the strike, found a nice tempo to his innings and ran with intent with Hardik Pandya.

In his attractive knock, Kishan put the pressure back on Pakistan by finding boundaries at regular intervals and running hard between the wickets, converting singles into doubles.

Just when the southpaw was looking to really explode and increase the tempo, Haris Rauf struck for the Men in Green and sent the dangerous Indian batter back to the pavilion. Kishan tried to pull a back-of-a-length delivery for a six but ended up toe-ending his stroke. The ball went straight up in the air and Babar Azam took an easy catch at mid-wicket.

Rauf was absolutely pumped after dismissing Kishan and gave the Indian batter an angry send-off. The Pakistan bowler waved his hand in the air looking at Kishan and signaling him to go back to the pavilion.

Kishan would be gutted to have missed out on what could have been a sensational century. Nonetheless, the left-handed batter's knock was worth more than a century. It was also the fourth consecutive time that Kishan registered a half-century in ODIs. He had scored three consecutive fifties against West Indies earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, Kishan registered a match-changing 138-run partnership with Hardik for the fifth wicket that brought India back into the contest.
