After a long wait, power-hitter Tim David will be making his much-awaited Australia debut during the upcoming T20I series against India, starting on September 20 in Mohali. He has been knocking on the doors of the Aussie selectors since making his international debut with Singapore and has done well in domestic T20 leagues across the world as well.

And with a lot being said about his abilities as a batter, David showed his abilities during a nets session while practising in an Australian kit for the first time. In a video posted by cricket.com.au on Twitter, Tim David can be seen whacking the balls while wearing the Australian kit.

If David is included in the squad during the opening T20I on September 20, it will be a second international debut, having already played 14 T20Is for Singapore. Injuries to Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis might pave the way for Tim David's way into Australia's Playing XI.

David was also named in Australia's T20 World Cup squad. He is the only addition to the Aaron Finch-led side that won the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Primarily a top-order batter, it will be interesting to see which position he eventually bats in the upcoming series. Earlier in the month, captain Aaron Finch confirmed that David would feature in the middle order. Now the only thing left to be seen is at whose expense the Singaporean-Australian cricketer will walk in.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Australia will play a three-match T20I series against India across three venues — the other two being Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25). Australia will then host West Indies and Australia between October 5 to 14.
