IND vs AUS: Indian players to spend time with family in extended break before assembling in Indore for 3rd Test

Team India defeated Australia by six wickets in the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series in Delhi on February 19 (Sunday). With the victory, Rohit Sharma's men took a 2-0 lead in the four-match series and retained the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With the third Test scheduled to start on March 01 in Indore, both teams have the luxury of taking some time off and switching focus towards something else before resuming practice. The Indian players will spend some time with their families before switching focus to cricket ahead of the third Test.

"There is a window of nine days before the third Test gets underway in Indore. The players are moving to their respective homes and the team will assemble back in Indore around February 25 and begin the preparations for the third Test," a source in Indian Team management told Sports Tak.

Meanwhile, Australia captain Pat Cummins returned home after India registered a thumping six-wicket win against the Baggy Greens in the second Test in Delhi. Cummins returned to Sydney due to personal reasons. The Australian skipper will spend some time in Sydney before returning to India to participate in the third Test match.

“Pat Cummins has flown home for personal reasons due to a serious family illness. He will return to India later this week to rejoin preparations for the third Test in Indore," Cricket Australia told Sports Tak.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced India's Test squad for the third and fourth Test against Australia following Rohit Sharma's brigade's emphatic victory in the second Test.

The Indian squad for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar series remained the same. Jaydev Unadkat, who was released for the second Test has been brought back after he led Saurashtra to Ranji Trophy glory after beating Bengal in the final.

India's squad for 3rd and 4th Test against Australia: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, S Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, R Jadeja, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
