Veteran Australia spinner Nathan Lyon continues to break and create new records in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series. The willy off-spinner scaled to the top of another illustrious list on March 12 (Sunday). When Lyon dismissed KS Bharat on Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, he became the leading wicket-taker among visiting players in India.
The Aussie spinner broke England's Derek Leslie Underwood's record that was set 43 years ago in 1982. Lyon now has 55 wickets in 11 matches in India and claims the top spot. DL Underwood bagged 54 wickets in 16 matches in India.

Lyon has been Australia's most successful bowler in the ongoing series against India. The right-arm off-spinner has bagged 21 wickets so far, including a match-winning spell in the third Test in Indore. Lyon ripped through the Indian batting line-up and brought his spin prowess to the fore in Indore and bagged an incredible eight-wicket hall in the second innings. He finished the game with a total of 11 wickets to his name.
Meanwhile, Lyon also happens to be the leading wicket-taker in Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Aussie spinner has 115 wickets to his name in 26 matches. Ravichandran Ashwin is second on the list with 113 wickets in 22 matches in Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The 35-year-old spinner has played a pivotal role in some of Australia's famous wins over the last decade. So far in his glittering career, Lyon has bagged 479 wickets in 118 Test matches with the help of 23 five-wicket hauls.
