India's star bowler Mohammed Shami is not trying to overcomplicate things, he revealed during a special interaction with Mohammed Siraj on BCCI TV after his glittering performance against Australia in Mumbai on Friday, March 17.

Shami, who has taken his game a notch up after the injury to Jasprit Bumrah, took three wickets in the first ODI at the Wankhede Stadium. He combined with Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja, helping the team bundle out Australia for just 188. KL Rahul and Jadeja guided the team to a five-wicket victory after a collapse that left India at 83 for 5.

Talking about his plans with Siraj in the video, Shami said that he tried to focus on good lines and lengths. "I keep my plans simple. The way we talk in team meetings, we have to bowl in good areas, and focus on good lines and lengths. It was very hot initially, but when the wind started blowing, it became little better to bowl," Shami said.

The pacer missed the two-day training for the first ODI to recover after the fourth Test.

"After 40 overs of the Ahmedabad Test, I needed 1-2 days to recover. I completed that recovery and came here for the match. The management accepted that I needed recovery. We have played so many matches that we know our skills and ability. So it is important that we recover properly to perform better," the bowler added.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, who was the skipper of the side in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, admitted that the hosts were under pressure in both innings but found ways to come out of their tough times. "We were under pressure in both the innings, but we kept our composure, and found ways to come out of those situations. When we got the momentum our way, we didn't let it go. I am really proud the way we played," Pandya said after the match.
