India and Australia will lock horns in the third and decider ODI on March 22 (Wednesday) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts won the first game of the series by five wickets in Mumbai while the Baggy Greens trounced the Men in Blue in the second ODI by 10 wickets in Visakhapatnam. The two teams will now square off in a crunch series decider at an iconic stadium, which has hosted some of the greatest and most memorable matches of all time.
The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium also happens to be the home ground for one the most famous and revered T20 franchises in the world - Chennai Super Kings. As the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is fast approaching, the Super Kings' players have been training at the redesigned M. A. Chidambaram Stadium.
The poster boy of the Chennai-based franchise and captain, MS Dhoni has also been training rigorously along with other players at the iconic stadium. With the India vs Australia ODI game scheduled to be held on the same ground, the former India skipper is expected to be at the venue for the game.
On the eve of the third ODI, Chennai Super Kings shared a picture of Dhoni sitting in Team India's dugout. The picture has since gone viral on the internet and fans have been cherishing the nostalgic moment.
"Main pal do pal ka shayar hu…” the CSK wrote on the post.
Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020. During his legendary career, the wicketkeeper-batter won India several matches with his outstanding finishing ability and astute leadership skill. During Dhoni's captaincy, the Men in Blue won three ICC trophies (the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, the 2011 ODI World Cup in India and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England).
Dhoni has also led Chennai to four IPL titles and it is primarily because of the former India captain that the Yellow Army enjoys a massive fanbase around the world.
