India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin stormed into the history book as he grabbed his 450th Test scalp during the Border-Gavaskar series opener against Australian in Nagpur on Thursday (February 9). He is now only the second Indian bowler to snare 450 Test wickets. He also became the the fastest India bowler to reach this feat which came about in just 89th Test match while Kumble took 91 Tests to take 450 wickets.
Ashwin has also become the second-fastest bowler in the world to reach 450th Test wicket, only behind Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan, who completed the feat in his 80th Test match. The 36-year-old picked up the wicket of Australian wicket-keeper batter Alexy Carey to reach the milestone
Additionally, the 36-year-old holds the record of having the second-most player of the series awards (9) in Tests, only next to Muralidaran (11).
Ashwin currently occupies the third and second spots in ICC Test bowlers and all-rounders rankings respectively.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Asian cricketer to have 3000 runs and 450 wickets in Test history.

Ashwin’s Test debut came way back in 2011 against West Indies in Delhi. He was adjudged player of the match for his performance with the ball (3/81 & 6/47) as India won the match by five wickets.
