Team India is currently locked in a white-ball series against New Zealand with the second ODI scheduled to be played on January 21 (Saturday). After the series against the Black Caps, Rohit Sharma's men will cross swords against Australia in the marquee Border-Gavaskar series. Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been named in the squad for the first two Test matches (subject to fitness), returned to bowling in the nets. Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also spotted bowling the nets as both cricketers try to get back in prime shape after nursing their respective injuries.
Bumrah bowls to Iyer
Bumrah has been away from cricket since August 2020 due to a back injury. As a result, the right-arm pacer missed out on the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, Asia Cup 2022 and multiple other marquee series. India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer recently shared a video in which Bumrah can be seen working on his craft in the nets.
Jadeja continues to take small steps
Jadeja has been away from cricket since the 2022 Asia Cup where he picked up an injury and then later underwent surgery. The left-arm spinner shared a video on his social media account in which he can be seen getting some legs back in the nets. The star all-rounder is also expected to play for Saurashtra in a Ranji Trophy game before the series between India and Australia.
Bumrah eyeing a comeback
Looking at Bumrah's progress and setbacks, the right-arm pacer would be hoping to complete a full recovery before the selection committee sits down to announce India's squad for the last two Test matches against Australia. The Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia commences on February 09.
