Australia captain Steve Smith won the all-important toss and elected to bat first in the 3rd ODI against India at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22 (Wednesday). The Baggy Greens made two changes to their playing XI that features in the second ODI. David Warner and Ashton Agar were included in the playing XI in place of ‘unwell’ Cameron Green and Nathan Ellis. The Men in Blue went in with the same playing XI that featured in the second ODI.
India playing XI: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
Australia playing XI: David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith(c), Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey(w), Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Agar, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.
The hosts won the first game of the series by five wickets in Mumbai while the Baggy Greens trounced the Men in Blue in the second ODI by 10 wickets in Visakhapatnam. With the series tied at 1-1, both teams would be under pressure to put their best foot forward in the crunch series decider.
India's batting order has struggled immensely against the Australian bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc. With the previous two ODIs offering enough assistance to fast bowlers, India's famed batting line-up crumbled like a pack of cards. The Men in Blue batters have underperformed in the white-ball series so far and they would look to redeem themselves in Chennai.
India Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul (wk), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Umran Malik
Australia Squad: Steven Smith (c), Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Josh Inglis
