Stylish Indian batter KL Rahul silenced his critics and regained some confidence after leading Team India to a five-wicket win in the first ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 17 (Friday). Riding on Rahul's dogged 75 runs off 91 balls, India chased down Australia's 189-run target after being reduced to 39/4. With Indian wickets tumbling at the other end, it was Rahul who steadied India's boat and paired up with Ravindra Jadeja to stitch together a 108-run winning partnership.
Rahul's father-in-law and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty reacted to the right-handed batter's splendid knock in Mumbai and seemed to have fired a shot at Venkatesh Prasad, who has been very vocal in criticising the Indian batter.
"Upar wala jab hai na bahar koi kuch bhi bole (When God is with you, it does not matter what the outsiders say)," Shetty said when asked about Rahul's knock.

Venkatesh was extremely vocal while criticising Rahul for his repeated failures in Tests which also led to the star batter's ouster from the third and fourth matches of the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar series. Rahul was also removed from the vice-captaincy post after his poor string of runs. Rahul could only score 38 runs in the three innings that he played in the two Test matches he played in Nagpur and Delhi.
Having said that, the former India pacer also appreciated Rahul's match-winning knock in Mumbai on social media.
“Excellent composure under pressure and a brilliant innings by KL Rahul. Top knock. Great support by Ravindra Jadeja and a good win for India,” Prasad had tweeted.
Meanwhile, Rahul could only score nine runs off 12 balls in the second ODI against the Baggy Greens on March 19 (Sunday) in Visakhapatnam. The Men in Blue lost the game by a massive margin of 10 wickets with 234 balls to spare.
