WTC 2023-25 Standings: Big change in World Test Championship points table after Australia's win over New Zealand; check India's position

After Australia defeated New Zealand by 3 wickets in the 2nd and final Test in Christchurch on March 11 (Monday), there was a major change in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table. With the victory, Australia leap-frogged New Zealand and jumped to second place while the Blackcaps slipped to third position. Meanwhile, India were firmly perched on the top of the standings after Rohit Sharma's men recently registered a 4-1 series win over England.

World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25: Points Table

With six wins in nine matches and a points percentage of 68.51, India sits atop the WTC points table. Australia has eight wins in 12 matches and a points percentage of 62.5 as Pat Cummins' brigade is second in the standings. New Zealand has three wins in six matches and a points percentage of 50. The Blackcaps are third on the points table.

The fourth, fifth and sixth places are occupied by Bangladesh, Pakistan and West Indies respectively. South Africa are in the seventh position while England are currently in eighth place.

What happened on the final day of 2nd Test?

At one stage, New Zealand looked set to level the series and register their first Test win over the Baggy Greens in 13 years. Australia were tottering at 80/5 while chasing a daunting target of 279 runs. A herculean batting performance from Alex Carey and Mitchell Marsh, and a handy contribution from skipper Pat Cummins, completely turned the match on its head as Australia came back to win the contest by three wickets.

Carey remained unbeaten on 98 runs which he scored with the help of 15 fours. Marsh scored 80 runs with the help of 10 fours and one six. Cummins remained unbeaten on 32 runs and smashed the match-winning boundary.
