South Africa announce T20I, ODI squad for Australia series, Baby AB gets maiden callup but 5 star players rested

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced squads for three T20Is and five ODIs against Australia at home starting later this month. 20-year-old Dewald Brevis aka 'Baby AB' received the maiden call-up for the three-T20I series along with Donovan Ferreira, Gerald Coetzee, and Matthew Breetzke
 

South Africa's senior players Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, and Kagiso Rabada have been rested for the T20I series in order to manage their workload ahead of World Cup 2023 in India later this year. 
 

Newbies’ record
 

Brevis has had a good T20 record so far. He has scored 1,055 runs from 42 innings at an average of 27.05 including one century and two half-centuries. Ferreira is a wicketkeeper-batter who has scored 703 runs from 31 innings at an average of 31.95 including three half-centuries. Breetzke is a wicketkeeper-batter as well. He has scored 1,101 runs from 45 innings at an average of 28.23 including eight half-centuries.
 

Limited-overs series schedule
 

The T20Is will be played on August 30, September 1, and September 3 at Kingsmead, Durban. The ODI series will begin on September 7 at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein. The next ODI on September 9 will be played at the same venue as well. The next three ODIs will be played on September 12, 15, and 17 in Potchefstroom, Centurion, and Johannesburg respectively.
