Mohammed Shami is currently on the road to recovery.

Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali lavished praise on Indian pacers after Rohit Sharma-led side registered a dominating 280-run win in the first Test match against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He compared Indian seamers with legendary Pakistani bowlers Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis.

India have taken a 1-0 lead in the two Test match series against Bangladesh. This win was the blend of an all-round performance from each player featuring in a star-studded line-up.

"The Indian bowling unit is so impactful that they are on the level with pacers Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. Right now, Mohammed Shami is not playing," Basit said on his YouTube channel.

In the first innings, India's pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep showcased their skills, outmanoeuvring the Bangladesh batters and bowling them out for just 149. Bumrah was particularly impressive, taking four wickets for 50 runs, and demonstrating remarkable control throughout his spell. Akash Deep made early breakthroughs with a captivating performance, while Siraj’s consistency added to the pressure, allowing India to dominate with the ball and set the stage for a commanding performance.

Basit Ali on LSG speedster Mayank Yadav

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by cloaking the fourth fastest in the tournament's history. He bowled a delivery of 156.7 kph against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Basit said that Mayank is a very dangerous bowler and he wants to see him featured in Australia. However, Mayank is yet to make his international debut. He is currently in NCA recovering from the injuries he got in IPL 2024.

"Mayank Yadav's ball is very dangerous. His bouncer is accurate. I wish to see him play a Test match in Australia," Basit added.

India will play five Test matches against Australia where the Men in Blue will look to with a strong pace battery. Indian veteran speedster Mohammed Shami is also on the road to recovery and he will most likely join the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.
