Tanzim Hasan Sakib reflects on Rohit Sharma's dismissal

Reflecting on Rohit's dismissal in his debut game, Sakib revealed that the cricketer was informed that he was not prepared for the star India batter. The Sylhet-born cricketer noted that he didn't pay much attention to what others said and concentrated on his task, believing that a well-executed delivery can dismiss any cricketer, regardless of whether they are an international star or a domestic player.

He also talked about  the of bowling in the right areas to trouble the batter. In the match, the Indian captain faced difficulties in establishing his rhythm, losing his wicket on the second ball of the game.

“It was my debut match and Rohit Sharma was the opponent or there was Team India. Actually, to be honest, I didn't think of that for once. I was told that I am new I won't be ready for Rohit Sharma. But I was sure that I will play with my strength. If I can bowl at the right places and can make the new ball swing it will put any batter in trouble. I thought about what strength I have and tried to utilize that in the field, I didn't think about who the opponent was,” Sakib was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“I keep one thing in mind that a good ball is a good ball for everyone. Doesn't matter if he is the number one batter or a domestic level cricketer, a good ball is a good ball for any batter. I always try to deliver my best ball,” he added.

Sakib will be instrumental for Bangladesh in the T20I series against India. He claimed the prized wickets of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav in the T20 World Cup 2024 but Bangladesh suffered a 50-run defeat.

The Sylhet-born cricketer also shared that he never viewed his teammates as rivals, even those who had opportunities before him. He expressed his desire to step into the international arena only when he felt completely prepared. In this regard, he added:

"Whenever my team mates got a chance in the national team, it never came across my mind that I also need to be in the national team. I thought that whenever I will go to the national team I have to go there after being completely ready so that they can't drop me after playing one or two matches.

"And during that time I was working a lot on myself, I was working on how to improve my skills and my plan was to go to the national team with my best version," the Bangladesh star concluded.
