Ishan Kishan is reportedly set to be snubbed in T20Is against Bangladesh.

Reports suggest that Sanju Samson is the preferred choice for BCCI selectors.

No respite for Ishan Kishan as his wait for Team India recall is reportedly set to be delayed further. Sanju Samson is expected to retain his position in the Indian T20I squad for the Bangladesh series, while Kishan may have to wait for a recall.

Ishan Kishan to be snubbed again for T20I series vs Bangladesh

Despite struggling in the recent series against Sri Lanka, where he scored back-to-back ducks, Samson, who was part of the 2024 T20 World Cup squad, will likely continue to be a preferred choice for the T20I team. According to Cricbuzz, the selectors are planning to give Samson a longer rope and may retain him in the squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. In contrast, Ishan Kishan, who has been included in the Irani Cup squad, is unlikely to earn a T20I recall at this time.

Samson to potentially open in T20I series

The report suggests that Sanju Samson could be given the opportunity to open the batting in the upcoming T20I series. With the possibility of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal being rested, Samson might have a new opening partner. Given India's busy schedule, which includes a three-Test series against New Zealand before departing for Australia, the selectors may opt to rest some of the Test regulars for the T20I series against Bangladesh. This could pave the way for Samson to take on the opening role.

Ruturaj Gaikwad's T20I inclusion uncertain

Although not officially confirmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad may also miss out on a place in the Indian T20I squad. He has been appointed as the captain of the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup, which is scheduled to take place from October 1 to 5.

Given the overlap between the Irani Cup and the India-Bangladesh T20I series, which is set to begin on October 6, Gaikwad's availability for the T20I series is uncertain. Additionally, the India-New Zealand Test series, commencing on October 16, could further complicate the selection process.

The report in Cricbuzz suggests that the absence of regular T20I players could create an opportunity for Sai Sudharsan to make a comeback to the Indian team. However, Sudharsan's inclusion is uncertain as he has been named in the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian team in the T20I series against Bangladesh. Hardik Pandya, who took a break from the ODI series against Sri Lanka, is set to make his return to competitive cricket in this series.
