Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is in a dominant spot against Najmul Hossain Shanto in the first Test of the two-match series which is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts tightened their grip on the visitors on Day 2 with a massive 227 runs first innings lead and are currently moving towards setting a massive target for the final innings against Bangladesh. Ravindra Jadeja who had a fantastic outing with both bat and ball revealed the potential target India is eyeing for the final innings.

Ashwin's century (113 runs) and Jadeja's fifty (86 runs) played the biggest role in putting India in a strong position. They powered India to post 376 runs in the first innings. Team India posted 376 runs in the first innings and then the Indian bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah bowled out Bangladesh for 149. With a lead of 227 runs, the hosts finished 81/3 at the stumps and are currently leading by 308 runs. Where Jadeja also grabbed two wickets, Ashwin was unable to open his account with the ball.

“I got out today but it's part and parcel of the game. Now we have to put up a good score on the board in the second innings. I am very happy with my bowling, the way I went through today. It's a good opportunity to take the 300th wicket on this ground. First we have to bat very well, we have to put somewhere around 120-150 from hereon. We'll be in a good position and then we'll come out and bowl and try and get them out as early as possible. (Pitch) It's pretty good for batting but there's still something in the wicket for the fast bowlers. Odd ball was seaming, odd ball was swinging, it's not that easy for batters. If fast bowlers bend their back, they can take something out of the wicket," said Jadeja at the end of Day 2.

“First of all, Ashwin doesn't need any advice (chuckles). I was just talking to Ash that we are not gonna miscall or try and make errors because the wicket was so good and we both were batting very well. I said we'll look to take easy singles, I'll try and not make you run hard and that was the conversation between us. Well played to Ashwin, he played a brilliant knock at his home ground. There is something in the wicket for the fast bowler and for spinners also, odd spin and odd ball is keeping low. All the five bowlers will be in play,” he added.

Jadeja said that India is to put 120 or 150 more from the position and that would put their second innings score somewhere around 250, which will boost the target they would give to Bangladesh for the final innings to around 450 or 470.
