Rishabh Pant trolls Rohit Sharma for not taking DRS call.

Rohit Sharma is hailed as one of the best captains in the cricketing world. However, he has not always made the right decisions when it comes to DRS calls. Despite being urged to go upstairs by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, the Indian captain declined to challenge a caught-behind decision on Day 4 of the first Test match against Bangladesh which was being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, he was hit with reality when he saw the replay of the moment and it clearly showed that it was out.

The incident happened in the 62nd over of the innings, when Player of the Match Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling against Bangladesh's Hasan Mahmud. The ball hit the batter on the glove and bounced steeply before Pant retrieved it after it had spun quite a bit. But it appeared as though the ball had struck the forearm before hitting the keeper's gloves. Pant urged Rohit to take DRS, but he declined. Replays, however, later revealed that the ball had only barely made contact with the glove. Therefore, the umpire would have raised his finger if the India captain had asked for a review.

Pant took a hilarious jibe at captain Rohit, telling him that the batter was out, he ought to at least glance at the replay as it was displayed on the screen. "Out tha, abe yaar replay dekh to lo (it was out, at least see the replay)," NDTV quoted Pant saying to Rohit.

However, this decision did not play a big role as the Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh by a massive margin of 280 runs and gained a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The second and the final Test of the serie will be played in Kanpur, on September 27.

Rohit on Pant

After the match, Rohit Sharma heavily praised the star wicket-keeper batter, who made his much-awaited return to the red-ball format after not playing Test cricket for more than 600 days.

"He's been through some really tough times. The way he has managed himself through those tough times was superb to watch. He came back in the IPL, followed by a very successful World Cup and this is the format he loves the most," Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
