Yuvraj Singh, a renowned all-rounder and Indian cricket legend, has played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma during his career. He played pivotal roles in India's title triumphs in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup under Dhoni's leadership.
Yuvraj Singh chooses India's outstanding captain
While Yuvraj briefly played under Virat Kohli's captaincy, he also holds Rohit Sharma in high esteem, recognizing his contribution to India's 2024 T20 World Cup win. In a recent episode of the Club Prairie Fire, Yuvraj was asked to choose his favorite among these three captains.
Ex-England captain Michael Vaughan, when asked to choose among MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma in a "start, bench, and drop" segment, selected Dhoni. Adam Gilchrist, who was also part of the discussion, agreed with Vaughan's choice.
When Yuvraj Singh was asked the same question, he chose to start Rohit Sharma, describing him as an ‘outstanding captain’ with the ability to significantly impact a T20 game with his batting.
"Probably I'd go for Rohit Sharma if it's T20 cricket. As a player, I'd go for Rohit, because he's an outstanding captain and can change the game with his batting, for sure, Rohit Sharma would be the first choice," India's two-time World Cup-winner said.
Yuvraj Singh made a lighthearted comment when asked to choose between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli for the ‘bench’ position. He suggested that selecting either name could generate significant media attention. To avoid making a controversial choice, Yuvraj humorously said he would bench himself, implying that the audience at Club Prairie Fire was intelligent enough to understand who should be benched. Yuvraj also predicted a 3-1 victory for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, while Vaughan and Gilchrist favored Australia to win the series.
Talking about, Rohit, he is currently busy leading Team India in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. India clinched the first Test in an extremlely dominant fashion and outclassed the visitors in all departments in Chennai. Now, they have an opportunity to clean-sweep the two-match series and start their busy Test campaign for the remainder of the year in a spectacular way.
