Bangladesh script history with maiden Test win over Pakistan as Mohammad Rizwan loses lone battle despite record-breaking display

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in 1st Test match.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh's second Test match will start from August 30.

Pakistan's decision to play without a spinner in Rawalpindi's pitch cost them the first Test match against Bangladesh. Bangladesh crushed Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test match at its home ground on the strength of spinners. Saud Shakeel (141), and Rizwan (171) scored centuries for Pakistan in the first innings. After that, their captain Shan Masood declared the innings at a score of 448 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In response to this, Mushfiqur Rahim (191) played a marathon innings for Bangladesh and scored 565 runs to take a lead of 117 runs. But in the second innings, Pakistani batters were unable to stand in front of the spinners on the last day and their team was reduced to 146 runs. Bangladesh scored 30 runs against Bangladesh to create history.  This is the first time in the history of cricket that Bangladesh won a Test match against Pakistan. 

 

Pakistan restricted to 146 on the last day

 

Pakistan started their last day of the 1st Test match with 23 runs at the loss of one wicket. The batters were unable to get a good start as skipper Shan Masood got out after scoring 14 runs with two fours in 37 balls. After that the Men in Green lost their wickets in quick succession where likes of Babar Azam (22), Saud Shakeel (0), Agha Salman (0), and Abdullah Shafique (37) got out cheaply. Rizwan, who scored 171 runs not out in the first innings, tried a lot but he got out after scoring .. runs. Due to this the Pakistan team, which was trailing by 117 runs, got restricted to ... runs and Bangladesh got a target of only ... runs to chase. Spinner Shakib Al Hasan took the maximum three wickets and Mehdi Hasan Miraz took two wickets in the second innings for Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi spinners turned the tables

 

Talking about the match, Pakistan released their main spinner Abrar Ahmed from the team before the Rawalpindi Test match. Not being able to read their home pitch became a problem for Pakistan and on the last day Pakistan surrendered before the spinners. Bangladesh team won the match by 2 wickets with the devastating spin bowling of Shakib Al Hasan (3) and Mehdi Hasan Miraz (4).
