Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is known for his antics on the field and so is Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The left-arm spinner lost his cool on Day 5 of the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as he threw the ball over the batter. Rizwan was not looking at the bowler when the throw came his way. It was followed by a stern warning from umpire Richard Kettleborough.
While Shakib had a few words with the umpire, the forward square leg fielder apologised to Rizwan. The incident took place in the 33rd over of Pakistan’s second innings in the first session of Day 5.
Not a rare instance for Shakib
This is not the first time Shakib has lost his cool on the field. He is known for his heated exchanges with the umpires. In the domestic league, he even abused umpires and kicked the stumps in frustration as the decision did not go his way.
Shakib’s timely strikes
However, the veteran all-rounder became the wrecker-in-chief on Day 5 of the Rawalpindi Test. In the first session, as many as five wickets fell. He got the wickets of vice-captain Saud Shakeel and opener Abdullah Shafique. Shakib got Shakeel stumped whereas Shafique went for a big shot and got caught. In the second session, he got the wicket of Naseem Shah as well. Naseem wanted to attack but handed an easy catch to Mushfiqur Rahim.

Shakib named in murder case of Rubel Islam
Shakib is among a long list of 156 people accused of murder of garment factory worker Rubel Islam in Dhaka's Abador. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed said that a decision on whether Shakib will play the second Test of the series will be taken after the first Test.
"Look, the FIR is just the first information letter and they are yet to claim any charge as far as I know, so before that, it is difficult to take a decision. The relationship between BCB and Shakib Al Hasan is like a player and an employer according to the contract. After tomorrow, we can think exactly after getting the legal notice and based on that. I cannot withdraw him from the middle of the Test match," he said.
"The second Test match is from August 30, so there is a gap between the games. During this period, we can think about what can be done in this regard," he added.
