Litton Das scripts history while rescuing Bangladesh from precarious position
He rescued Bangladesh in the second Test when they were struggling at 26/6. Litton scored a brilliant century off 171 balls, helping Bangladesh erase their first-innings deficit. Litton Das has made history by becoming the first batter to score three centuries batting outside the top five when his team was under 50 runs. His 114 against Pakistan and 141 against Sri Lanka came when Bangladesh were struggling at 49/4 and 24/5 respectively. With this, Litton now has four Test centuries.
Litton batted with Hasan Mahmood and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, forming crucial partnerships to save Bangladesh from their worst-ever Test innings.
Litton Das batted with Hasan Mahmood when he scored his century. Earlier, he had partnered with Mehidy Hasan Miraz to rescue Bangladesh from a precarious 26/6 in the first innings. Together, Litton and Mehidy added 165 runs in almost 40 overs, helping Bangladesh recover from the brink of their worst-ever Test innings.
4th Test ton for Litton Das
Litton Das scored his 4th Test century in Pakistan, which was crucial for Bangladesh. He batted with Mehidy Hasan Miraz to survive a fiery spell from Khurram Shahzad. Together, they patiently built a partnership, capitalizing on Pakistan's bowling errors. Although Mehidy was dismissed later, Litton continued to bat with the tail and reduce Bangladesh's deficit.
Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's calculated batting approach overwhelmed Pakistan's bowlers. Mehidy was eventually dismissed by Shahzad, but Litton continued to bat with the tailenders. Hasan Mahmud's patient innings allowed Litton to reach his century. Litton was on 113 when Bangladesh's score read 227/8 in 68.3 overs. This brought Pakistan's lead down to under 50 runs, a significant achievement considering their earlier dominance.
However Litton's bravado came to an end after scoring 138 off 228 to help Bangladesh post a respectable total of 262 runs, giving a slender lead of 12 runs to Pakistan.
