David Warner left a funny remark on his teammate Steve Smith's Instagram post after the Aussie superstar was roped in by Sydney Sixers for the forthcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL).
On Monday (December 12) the franchise announced the return of the 33-year-old to the team, which he once captained to their inaugural BBL title. The Australian middle-order batter has been consigned to the team as a replacement for one of the international recruits for the campaign.
The franchise also said that Smith would be seen for the mouth-watering Sydney Smash where the Sixers and Sydney Thunder will lock horns at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This will mean that the two talismanic Aussie batters will clash.
"Sixers fans will have the opportunity to see Smith in action for as many as four regular season matches – in addition, potentially, to finals – starting with the clash with the defending champion Perth Scorchers at the SCG on January 15, followed by fixtures against the Adelaide Strikers in Coffs Harbour two days later, the Sydney Smash at the SCG on January 21 and a trip to face the Hurricanes in Hobart on January 23," said Sixers in the statement on their website.
Smith took to Instagram and spoke about his return and said that he was looking forward to the BBL campaign.
"Great to be back at the @sixersbbl for this years @bbl I look forward to putting on the magenta at the end of the summer," said Smith on Instagram.
Warner was quick to quip on the post and left a hilarious comment telling him to keep fresh ahead of the clash.
"Make sure those hips are fresh," said Warner.
Amid the leadership fiasco of Warner, Smith recently came to the aid of the 36-year-old and said that his lifetime captaincy ban was “fundamentally wrong”. The former Australian captain also spoke in favour of Warner performing well in the Test series against South Africa after his rough patch against the West Indies.
