Watch: Ben Cutting stuns England opener Jame Vince with flying effort in BBL 2022-23 encounter

Australian bowling all-rounder Ben Cutting stunned his Sydney Thunder teammates and their opponents Sydney Sixers during their derby clash in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 with a brilliant catch to send English opener James Vince back to the pavilion.

The catch took place in the second ball of the third over when Vince, who plays for the Sixers, tried to hit fast bowler Brendan Doggett's delivery through the offside for a boundary. However, Cutting had other ideas after he ran to his right and with enough height to catch the ball and send the opener packing for just five runs off as many balls.

Chasing 134 for the win, Vince's wicket reduced the Sixers to 16 runs for two wickets as the Thunders looked to take control of the innings. It was also an important wicket as Vince starred in their previous outing with an unbeaten 91 to take his team home against the Melbourne Stars.

The third wicket fell soon after as Kurtis Patterson was sent back to the pavilion by Chris Green as the Sixers were stuck on 25 for three in four overs. However, an unbeaten partnership of 109 runs off 74 balls between skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk helped the other Sydney side beat their city rivals.

Henriques stayed unbeaten on 53 off 38, while Silk was at his best with a steady 42-ball knock of 59.

Despite ending up on the losing side, Cutting had a decent outing with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 15-ball 26 with five fours to his name and surviving the onslaught of fellow countryman Sean Abbott, who bagged three wickets for just nine runs. Cutting also bowled one over but was smashed for 14 runs.

The Thunders are currently placed fourth in the points table while the Sixers went to the top after their derby win.
