Hobart Hurricanes won by six wickets against Melbourne Renegades in BBL.

Nikhil Chaudhary of the Hobart Hurricanes had a memorable day on January 4 as the all-rounder met his idol Brett Lee during the match against the Melbourne Renegades.

Chaudhary has been a standout performer for the Hobart side in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 season, scoring 72 runs in five matches and also taking three wickets. The Indian-origin all-rounder continued to play a crucial role for his team, contributing with the ball by dismissing Quinton de Kock in the match.

The Hurricanes clinched victory in the match by six wickets, propelled by Sam Hain's fifty and Corey Anderson's 41.

Although he didn't get the chance to bat, Chaudhary experienced a special moment with his idol Lee, who was on commentary duty for the match. The all-rounder hurried to meet his idol just as Lee was about to leave the Marvel Stadium.

However, the 27-year-old managed to arrive on time and had a fantastic interaction with the legendary pacer. During their exchange, the all-rounder even taught Lee his trademark Kabaddi celebration, leaving both men all smiles afterwards.

However, this wasn't the only memorable moment between the two on that day. While Chaudhary was wired up during the match and engaged in conversation with the commentators, Lee decided to showcase his Hindi skills. The young all-rounder was pleasantly surprised to hear his idol speak in Hindi and even commended him for it.

The victory against the Renegades has kept the Hurricanes in the playoff race, with them trailing the Melbourne Stars by just two points.

Hurricanes have four matches left, and even securing three victories in those would place them in the running for a top-four qualification. Currently, the Brisbane Heat lead the table with five wins in seven matches.
