Star New Zealand batter Tom Latham smashed an astonishing and crucial century in the ongoing edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during the match against Pakistan which was being played at the National Stadium in Karachi, on February 19 (Wednesday). This was the second century of the day as earlier, Will Young also hit a ton. He appeared to be in good form and joined a 118-run partnership with Young to stage New Zealand's comeback.
Will Young smashes ton
The batter did not have an impressive outing during the recently concluded tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand. This knock is crucial for Young as it was the second time that he went past the 50-run mark in ODIs this year. Before this knock, he failed to even touch the 20-run mark in his previous five ODI innings.

Tom Latham's century
This was Latham's 8th ODI ton and first in the Champions Trophy. He has also become the fifth NZ batter to hit a hundred in the Champions Trophy. He kept on progressing the scoreboard at a good pace along with Glenn Phillips even after Young got out after scoring 107 runs off 113 balls.
NZ openers joined 39 runs and were looking in good touch before Abrar Ahmed clean bowled Devon Conway to send him back to the dugout on a score of 10 runs off 17 balls. However, just before the BlackCaps could recover from this Kane Williamson joined him back to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run off two balls.
Naseem Shah managed to get the wicket of Williamson. Dary Mitchell scored 10 runs off 24 balls and right before it seemed as if he had settled down, Haris Rauf dismissed him to give Pakistan the third breakthrough in the 17th over. Then Young got out in the 38th over but had kept the base for a big score.
Glenn Phillips also scored a blazing 61 off 39 balls and provided the much-needed boost to the team in the death overs. Tom Latham returned to the dugout after scoring 118 not out. He helped New Zealand post 320/5 in 30 overs. Pakistan will have to chase 321 to win this match.
