India batting great Virat Kohli reportedly had a neck niggle during his last outing in the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. There were reports that Kohli will likely miss Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra due to a neck sprain. Delhi will face Saurashtra in the sixth Elite Group D match from January 23 to 26 in Rajkot.
However, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) official told Sports Tak that there is no information from Kohli about neck niggle or
Kohli was recently spotted in Mumbai spending quality time with his family.

“Virat Kohli had a neck sprain and even took an injection for the same. There is a possibility of him skipping the first of the two Ranji Trophy games left, and a clear picture could come if the DDCA selectors are given an update," a source was quoted as saying by TOI.
Virat Kohli's last Ranji outing
Virat Kohli last played a Ranji Trophy match back in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad. The match also featured big names Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, and Ashish Nehra for Delhi. On the other hand, UP played the game with names like Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

After batting first, Delhi scored only 235 in the first innings. Virat scored 14 and was removed by Bhuvi. Puit Bisht top-scored with 52, with Imtiaz Ahmed picking up a fifer. In reply, UP came up with a solid 403, with Ashish Nehra bagging three wickets for Delhi. In the next innings, Delhi did come up with a much-improved performance, but that was not enough to avoid a defeat. UP won the match by six wickets after scoring 158/4 in 39.2 overs.

Kohli who last featured in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he was seen struggling with bat. The star batter managed to score just 190 runs in five Test matches. Kohli will now most likely to be seen in action in the upcoming ODI series against England. He will be India's vital cog in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
