Following Rohit Sharma-led India's defeat five-Test match series against Australia the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to take strict action. BCCI hosted a review meeting in Mumbai which was attended by head coach Gautam Gambhir selector Ajit Agarkar and newly appointed secretary Devjit Saikia.
As per Sports Tak's exclusive report, the Indian Cricket Board has issued new guidelines for Team India and one of the main taking points was practice sessions.
Earlier, there was a choice among players for attending practice sessions and fans often witnessed players spending time with their families during the team's practice sessions many times players used their own vehicles to join the squad for a warmup session.
In the guidelines, BCCI mentioned that no player is allowed to leave the practice session early. Everyone will leave the practice venue together
"Leaving Practice Sessions Early All players are required to stay for the entire duration of scheduled practice sessions and travel together to and from the venue. This rule ensures commitment and fosters a strong work ethic within the team" read BCCI's new policy.
What happens if a player disobeys the rule?
BCCI also mentioned that if a player is found breaching the rules then they have all the right to put a sanction against the concerned from participating in all BCCI-conducted tournaments including the Indian Premier League (IPL).
"Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the BCCI. Additionally, the BCCI reserves the right to take disciplinary action against a player which may include (i) sanctioning against the concerned player from participating in all BCCI-conducted tournaments including the Indian Premier League; and (ii) deduction from retainer amount/match fees under BCCI Player contract. This measure ensures accountability and reinforces the importance of adhering to established policies and prioritising Indian cricket" said BCCI.
