Big News: BCCI allows cricketers to take family to Dubai for Champions Trophy 2025 but there's a catch

Highlights:

India will go up against Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener.

Players' families are allowed for only one game of the tournament.

Players will have to take permission from the BCCI for the same.

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has allowed players to take their family to Dubai for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Sports Tak has learned that the players will have to take prior permission from the BCCI to take their family. However, the family can stay but for only one match of their choice and not the entire tournament. 

The focus will continue to be team bonding and ensuring that the players stay together without any distraction.

India will take on Bangladesh in their opening clash of the tournament on February 19. Their second clash is against co-hosts Pakistan on February 23. After a long break, India's final group stage match is against New Zealand on March 2. If India qualify for the final, it will be played in UAE as well. 

Earlier, in BCCI's 10-point diktat, it was made clear that the families can travel on long tours of 45 days or more but not more than 14 days. The families can visit the player only once in a day. In addition, the coach, captain and BCCI's general manager will need to give permission to the player to bring their family.

Injury scare for Pant, allout attack in practice session

India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was struck on the knee during a nets session on February 17. A day later, he did not keep the wickets. Pant did not feature in the playing XI for the ODI series against England. KL Rahul is likely to be the first-choice wicketkeeper in the upcoming tournament. There is no official update on the swashbuckling left-handed batter.

Meanwhile, Indian batters adopted an attacking approach. in the net session ahead of clash against Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side. Indian batters cleared the boundaries at ICC Cricket Academy Ground with ease. More than 100 sixes were hit during the practice session. All-rounder Hardik Pandya stood out of the lot with both bat and ball.
