India's Champions Trophy squad will be announced following press conference

Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner but BCCI is yet to announce Team India's squad for the marquee tournament. However, in a big update Sports Tak has learnt that Indian Team for Champions Trophy squad to be picked on January 18 in Mumbai followed by a press conference by the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. Notably, India and Pakistan are the only two teams who are yet to announce their respective squads for the Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to start from February 19.

Earlier reports were doing round that India's Champions Trophy squad will be announced by January 12. However, in an exclusive interaction with Sports Tak, BCCI's vice-president Rajeev Shukla revealed that BCCI will conduct a meeting on January 18 to take a final call on India's squad for Champions Trophy 2025. Few days back, BCCI revealed India's T20I squad for series against England which is slated to get underway from January 22. India will also play a three-match ODI series against England but it hasn't been disclosed yet. It is expected that both India's squad for both ODI series against England and Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced during the press conference.

Meanwhile, India will kick off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh on February 19  Dubai which will be followed by a high-octane clash against their arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. They will then lock horns with New Zealand on March 2.

Rohit Sharma won't travel to Pakistan

It has also been learnt that Rohit Sharma won't be travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy's captains' photoshoot. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is gearing up to host the opening ceremony for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ceremony is tentatively planned for February 16 or 17.

According to ICC regulations, the presence of all participating team captains is mandatory at the opening ceremony. Earlier, reports were doing rounds that skipper Rohit will be traveling to Pakistan for the captains' photoshoot and for the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However it's all clear now the Hitman won't travel to Pakistan any which way.
