India captain Rohit Sharma will most likely to miss the upcoming Champions Trophy clash against New Zealand. Rohit was seen struggling with his hamstring during the early part of Pakistan’s innings. After struggling he walked off the time being while with Shubman Gill taking charge.
However, Rohit came back to bat and started his vintage opening knock alongside Gill. However, as per Indian Express, as India trained on Wednesday after a two-day break, Rohit was the only frontline batsman not to get into the nets. Instead, he stayed indoors and later on, was seen working with the strength and conditioning coach and physiotherapist. While he did jog for a while, he wasn’t pushing himself to the full extent.
India have already won their two group-stage matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 defeating Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Men in Blue sealed their berth for the semifinals. Team India will face New Zealand for their third group-stage match on Tuesday, March 2 which will take place at the same venue. Since India have already qualified for the semifinals, they have the option to not risk Rohit against New Zealand. As Afghanistan have already beat England, India still doesn't know who their opponents in the semifinals will be.
